LOST TV: one week away from the beginning...

More thoughts about "Across the Sea"
I was sitting there looking out to sea, enjoying the episode with all the adrenaline and excitement as per usual, until Jacob lost his cool, and threw MIB into the "light-saber" cave. This made me incredibly sad for some reason. Is the light partly a last experiment by a dieing Tesla based on his earlier Philadelphia experiments? Maybe like a living, sentient creature, the islands heart projects its love for mankind..or peace, or understanding? As the great Elvis Costello once sang.."what's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?"...each of these things exist in each human being, and we all want more.I believe a game is involved..on a much grander scale, with Tesla's ghost, high tech, underground labs, like in the Truman Show, and somewhat like a huge, massive video game..
I also have been looking closely at the looms and tapestries in a few of the episodes..conjuring up thoughts of the mythological "Loom of Destiny", where the WIB could have woven the destinies of the 2 boys into the tapestries, sealing their fates. I believe the island is basically good, and gives visions, secret knowledge and perhaps even superhuman powers to the inhabitants of the island as it chooses. We never actually see WIB destroy the village , like Anikan in Starwars 5, after his mom died, or fill up the hole. The island came to mind while watching a recent episode of "Ghosthunters", where they check out some caves on Easter island. It was full of ghosts and power spots along with all those awesome statues.I strongly feel that the light/source/heart is or creates the EM, and the electromagnetic energy could be releasing a sound wave that can control humans in some way. As well as moving the island through time and space. I once thought it was a huge alien space ship, under all the grass, rocks and trees and would fly around.
What if the island lay in a small pool of water in Tunisia? Has miniaturization been debunked? No, I am afraid the plotline has transcended beyond goo and evil. But not for the Losties. Their very lives depend on the " scale inside each of us.." as Dogen illustrated, that that determines our core behaviour toward evil side or for good. And the 2 brothers are judges and juries, watching everything.: Has the 2 island theorey come up, where people are sent back and forth from island group to identical island group, experimented on, with mind control waves pulsing in audio form from the many EM pockets throughout the Island? : John Milton wrote in 1644 " Good and evil we know in the field of this world grow up together almost inseparably; and the knowledge of good is so involved and interwoven with the knowledge of evil, and in so many cunning resemblances hardly to be discerned, that those confused seeds which were imposed upon Psyche as an incessant labor to cull out, and sort asunder, were not more intermixed.":
In a poem called Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came" by Robert Browning the very first few lines seem very similar to our Flocke/Mib...:::
"My first thought was, he lied with every word, that hoary cripple, with
malicious eye Askance to watch the working of his lie On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford Suppression of the glee that pursed and scored It's edge, at one more victim gained thereby. What else should he set for, with his staff? What, save to waylay with his lies, ensnare All travelers who might find him posted there And ask the road? I guessed what skull-like laugh Would break, what crutch 'gin write my epitaph For pastime in the dusty thoroughfare,... As when a sick man very near death seems dead indeed, and feels begin and end The tears and takes the farewell of each friend, And hears one bid the other go, draw breath Freelier outside ("since all is o'er," he saith "And the blow fallen no grieving can amend";}"
Michael Shermer, in his book, "The science of Good and Evil", quoted Charles Darwin, in his quest to discover the birth of morality in our society, ..."How odd it is that anyone should not see that all observation must be for or against some view if it is to be of any service." Like the yin/yang symbol, each side hold a little of the other within them and must exist in order for the other to be a part of the circle. Each holds the other in check.

"If You Make The Island , They Will Come!..."

Was that the disembodied voice of Walt Disney? I have been a Lost Fan only a couple of years, but it has been awesome and I think its a new trend on TV and in entertainment. To try and relate to as many of the audience as possible, by trying to give everyone what they want. I'm sure with the next few years, all this amazing intelligence and excitement generated by the best show ever on TV,,,we'll start seeing repercussions and rippling effects. This is just the beginning of a new era, and as Lost Fans..we are in store for a whole slew of new "Lost" material to sort through..movies, video games, comic books, it has only just begun...And as far as what we know and what has been left out so far, I believe we're on a need-to-know basis, and much more will be revealed in the next few episodes, the finale and the next few years.
Along time ago, a few theories about DI food led to a humorous theory about the Apollo bar. As the candy bar may not be as important to the show as some things, like the game "Mouse trap" or Locke's brother, here's an idea, I call, 'Jacob and the Chocolate Factory'...
Deep within the island lies a vast complex, run by Jacob. In a section called Dharma Initiative Food-Research and Development, is a factory that makes only one candy. Imbued with the subtle essence of the island. Using ingredients grown in and around the island, with an unusual amount of natural ingredients which can enhance one's abilities, tapping in to any latent super-natural talents within the candy consumer. The Apollo bar, if eaten in huge quantities, like say by Hurley, perhaps; can give that person a few super powers. Hence its name, and origin are revealed. Secretly sold worldwide, the candy bar helps the island find its chosen people.
Like the old, silent films "The Perils of Pauline", "Lost"has kept us coming back for years. Each episode ending too soon. Like the final episode of "House" this evening, Hugh Laurie's character, Dr.House saw his dream girl, "Cuddly" walk into his house and thought she was only in his imagination. She was truly there, because he had planned it. He had fallen for her, and she fell for him, eventually; through hours of intense seduction by the good doctor, and perhaps years of desire. Jacob has his white lies, and MIB has broken, and will probably break more of the rules of the current game being played between the two brothers. The pieces are chosen, years through space and time, heartbreak and obsession, trial and error, freewill vs. choice, good vs. evil, even love vs. hate.... The Endgame has arrived...
Is Jacob a Sasquatch?

Or a werewolf in sheep's clothing? He seems to have really extraordinary speed and agility as seen in "Ab Aerterno", when he comes out of nowhere on the beach and starts punching Richard. And when he threw his brother, not a little guy, around like a bag of marshmellows. When we found out he had an ocean front foot house...well, could he really be the fabled, legendary "Bigfoot"? Lost...or Found ? " : I can't say as ever I was lost but I was once bewildered for three days " -- Daniel Boone

As I am new to the T.V. show " Lost ", I'm only vaguely aware of some of the theories about the shows mysteries. I stand behind those who believe the show to be the best on television. I will attempt to discuss a few elements of the show that strike a chord of familiarity in my life and in the research I have conducted in the past few years, incorporating these ideas into my science fiction writing.
Nikola Tesla and his research in electricity and magnetism, that led up to the bizarre and still unexplained Philadelphia Experiment in the 40's, was behind the research later conducted at Montauk, N.J. in the 50's by
the U. S. Air Force theoretically to discover the potentials powers of electromagnetic waves. Conspiracy theorists have gone as far as to say that they can create horrific monsters and control minds, in a broad sense. Like whole towns of people controlled by sound waves to be more productive or the theory also was that Tesla's ideas could be used to control the weather or even develop a massive weapon.
So as I have newly arrived on the island, a newbie, the shows writing has been eagerly anticipated through writings of my own, such as " Arteries of the Earth " and " The Other Side" which I intend to make available online soon.
My theories about the show are based on what I've read, of course and the reviews I've heard of the shows, and interviews, etc, I realise there is probably nothing new here, but I blog on hoping some one finds something interesting. One theory I have is based on the old " gifted and talented classes" in school. Where those with special talents or gifts were offered to go to class with others like them selves. I see the island as a home to mainly the " found" and the rest of civilisation are the lost...
Or perhaps Atlantis has resurfaced as a time and space travelling island that has over time evolved into a living entity. With its eccentric powers of control over its inhabitants stretch much farther than just the physical island itself, but throughout the entire world. Its reach delving into dark places and bright areas to try and fix certain broken sections of our human existence.
Another theory I have is that the island is a Purgatory between earth and heaven, with souls trapped on it until they determine their fate by their decisions and actions. Covered on the outside by layers of dirt and grass and jungle, while deep within lies a great machine. Perhaps a vast super computer that has come alive and exists as a life form, in constant search for new inhabitants. Or an alternate dimension, rich for plundering but protected by its people by some powerful means.
Maybe the island is miniature in size and in the center of a vast octagonal table with rich people gathered around using the cast as pawns in a game. Using mind control and pitting peoples lives against one another in an all too realistic island battlefield.
I like the fact that old episodes of Survivor and Gilligan's island seem to have been satirised in a few episodes of the show. And the dedication to allot of the old movies, comic books and science fiction novels interspersed into the plot like so much seasoning into a Delicious meal. This has led to the feeling as we watch that we as an audience are all inclusive..a part of the island as well.
Early this year , I had only heard of the show and seen half an episode and had changed the channel, confused. So, a total non islander, I bought a calender for the 2009 year for our wall. I just noticed when flipping to May that it is an " Islands " calender. Hmmmmmm....
I watched the first four years on DVD my fiend Megan loaned me and have been totally amazed by the incredible work in the writing and acting on the show.
One theory I have is that Hurley bought the island and is secretly behind everything...He is an awesome actor and extremely funny in his interviews. Let's say he bought it and is in partnership with Ben and Widmore...Maybe Desmond is Widmores man or a die-hard Dharmaniac. After giving Vin Diesel's "the Chronicles of Riddick " another look last night, I get the feeling more and more that Doc Jenson's theory of an underground element to the Lost story is very probable. A group hidden deep within the island, unable to surface but able to control things from deep below through mysterious abilities yet to be discovered by us, the viewer's. Or a huge group of Dharma people in a vast underground facility that is still up and running with doorways to the mainland, and both time and space travel. There is so much ties to the ancient Egyptian times that I believe there are many links to the far away past in the islands history, that include the Egyptians amazing potential abilities in conversing with the dead, Resurrection and even immortality. I know Richard definitely looks and has captured in his acting and in their amazing makeup and film work, the " timeless " appearance.
The show is powerful and exciting, the actors and the writing are both incredible to see. When working or traveling about, I hear lots of lyrics from classic rock which does appear to be incorporated into the show. From Charley's tattoo " Living is easy with eyes closed...", the old Beatles song " Strawberry Fields", which continues, " misunderstanding all you see.." to the Bachman-Turner Overdrive song, " Taking Care of Business", with " You get up every morning with the alarm clocks warning, take the 815 into the city...
I have thoroughly enjoyed the show and hope to learn more about the hidden plot as we watch season 6. The last 5 years are really excellent and I look forward to the rest of the episodes. The theories behind the writing of the show remain a mystery, but guessing at what lies deep within the island... continues.

Desmond-centric thoughts: Can he save the day? ("Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast."-'Ace' Rimmer, from BBC's "Red Dwarf"),..Desmond Hume has become a pivotal player in the upcoming "Lost" finale. Is his ability to withstand long periods of intense EM, as shown when he was exposed to the "Tesla " coil? When he turned the fail-safe key , exploding the hatch, did he obtain powers like Magneto, from X-men? To defeat MIB, does he somehow go back in time to assist the universe in it's unfortunate way of correcting it's course? --("I'll see you in another life, Brutha...")--Does he go back in time and stop Jacob from going into his fit of rage, making his fateful mistake? ("Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?"=="Of course it is happening inside your head Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"--Harry Potter and Dumbldore) ("He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it")--Douglas Adams--Desmond, either insane, or is also a key factor in the FST. He appears to be taking as many as he can to either the "Lamp post" or to Dr. Chang's Museum.--(Now this place I've got to see, where Island artifacts may still exist from the sunken island.) If Desmond were able to visit Jacob in the past, under other Mother's nose, would it help him contain his rage? Would he stop MIB from killing her also? When she told MIB "Thank you...--...was she grateful to die or knew it would lead to Jacob's rage? Can MIB be destroyed? He seems invulnerable. ("I take a dim view of watching my own destruction.")-Jack from the 1956 "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"--Or can he only be contained? ("There was a bomb! He — he ate it!") - Lois Lane...("I'm this time-bomb of responsibility waiting to go off." - Claire, season one,...Jack steps up to the plate...("I'm not a leader!", "And yet they all treat you like one." - Jack and Locke) He sailed into a hurricane and ran aground on the island. The night he turned the light on in the hatch, he probably saved Locke's sanity. ("In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit."--Tolkien) Now, with his sacrifice, he could save the island, and the world. Contradicting Eloise Hawking's words to Desmond... "pushing the button is the most important thing you'll ever do", or maybe it was then....("There are names among us that are worth more than a thousand mail-clad knights apiece." - Gandalf) Later, in the hospital, to Penny, she said,..."for the first time in a long time,I dont know whats about to happen"..When she chooses a ring, before telling Desmond not to buy it, Eloise says..."I have just the thing. This won't blind any queens, to be sure, but still has the sparkle of life." later, when he refuses to give the ring back, she says, cryptically, "...And if you don't do those things, Desmond David Hume, every single one of us is dead. So give me that sodding ring." Perhaps, our time traveled "Hobbit" is carrying the "ring" of destiny, into a dark past to regain a light in "losties" future?
("So we saved the world together for a while, and that was lovely."-Desmond)-----------------Jacob say's, "It only ends once..." If the End's always the same, then how does it end? Does MIB use Desmondo, by claiming to kill Penny? Make him turn the donkey wheel? "If we get involved in a nuclear war, would the electromagnetic pulses from exploding bombs damage my videotapes?"-Anon----"Those who study the complex interplay of cause and effect in the history of the Universe say that this sort of thing is going on all the time, but that we are powerless to prevent it."-Douglas Adams, in reference to the end of the Universe.---"I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it"- Jack Handey, "Deep Thoughts"---"The earth? Oh the earth will be gone in a few seconds...I'm going to blow it up. It's obstructing my view of Venus."-Marvin the Martian--The islands destroyed, humanity's out of time, evil incarnate rules the planet? Has this already happened? -------------Never, never land and the "Lost" boys... Remember Kate and Sawyer's getting smashed, playing the 'Never' game?---("You say 'I never', and then you finish the sentence. If it's something you did, you drink. If it's something you never did, you don't drink... Learn by example. I never kissed a man. Now you drink, 'cause you've kissed a man.")-Sawyer, "I never wore pink."-Kate,-- Well, here goes..I never watched an episode of "Lost" and at commercial break, picked up my jaw off the floor and carefully returned my eyes to my head...(drinking...)
